From industrial heritage to creative hub

Kraus Architects

Brüneo co-working

Brühl, Germany.

In the past June 17th I was able to visit this building during the Tag der architektur (Day of architecure) in NRW. This captivating building was an old sugar factory turned into a thriving creative hub. This unique building, with its blend of industrial charm and contemporary design, has been transformed into a dynamic coworking space, event venue, and art exhibition center.

The building stands as a proud testament to its industrial roots, retaining key elements and preserving the raw, rugged beauty of its past. The sturdy brick walls evoke a sense of history and authenticity, while the corten steel accents add a industrial and modern touch. It's a seamless integration of old and new, creating an atmosphere that sparks inspiration and fuels creativity.

Within these walls, the old sugar factory has been reborn as a vibrant coworking space, fostering a sense of community and collaboration. The open-concept layout encourages interaction and the exchange of ideas, providing a nurturing environment for entrepreneurs, freelancers, and creatives to thrive. The refurbished factory tables, crafted from reclaimed materials, serve as a reminder of the building's industrial heritage, infusing every workspace with a unique character.

Beyond coworking, the building has also become a venue for events and art exhibitions. The expansive interiors offer a flexible canvas for creativity, with spacious halls and high ceilings providing the perfect backdrop for immersive experiences.

The revitalization of the old sugar factory into a dynamic coworking space, event venue, and art exhibition center is a testament to the transformative power of architecture and design. As you step into this creative hub, the industrial heritage, the repurposed materials, and the vibrant atmosphere will transport you into a world where the past and present coexist in perfect harmony.
